Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville return home after a weekend trip in Austin to take on West Texas A&M in their final series of the year.
The Hogs have already clinched a spot in the Lone Star Conference Tournament with their opponent yet to be known, but more likely than not being the St. Mary's Rattlers. The team currently sits at seventh in the conference with no chance of moving up as the Buffaloes sit above them in the sixth spot with a five game lead over the Javelinas.
The Javelinas are coming off a 0-4 weekend against St. Edwards, looking to get back in the winning column as they've gone 1-7 in the last 8 contests against the Hilltoppers and UT-Dallas Comets.Â
Strong pitching has been the recipe for the Javelinas as the Javelinas have three of the top-10 strikeout leaders in the conference, and
Garrett Nail leading the charge. Nail also sits third in the nation in strikeouts just one strikeout away from being tied for second in the nation. He's also pitched the second fewest innings in the Nation's top-10 strikeout list (54.2 IP).
Tyler Schumann doesn't sit far behind Nail in strikeouts, as he's second in the conference along with having the sixth best Opponent Batting Average in the conference (.251).
Brian Buchanan is tied for ninth in the conference in strikeouts with 48 on the year and looking to stack on a few more this weekend.Â
The Buffs don't have major strikeout numbers from one individual, but strikeouts as a team they currently sit third in the conference with 327 on the year. Although, similarly to the Hogs sit only in the middle or bottom half of the conference in opposing batting average allowing .312 batting average on the year.Â
Both teams are coming into the series clinching a tournament spot, but are hoping to take some momentum into the post season.
First pitch for the series against the Buffs is set for 6:00 pm. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the action at JavelinaBSB on X.Â
