Kingsville - Tyler Schumann continues to pick up recognition for his performance last week, earning the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South-Central Region Pitcher of the Week the association announced on Wednesday.
After claiming the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week award on Monday, Schumann picked up his second NCBWA recognition after taking home this first award of the 2026 season back in February. This marks the third time Schumann has been named to the award in his career after winning it once in his freshman season.
Schumann was a dominant force on the bump for the Javelinas in game one of their series against Angelo State, pitching 6.1 innings of no-hit baseball to go along with nine strikeouts. Schumann was called in to pitch in the eighth inning and went all the way to the fourteenth inning to give the Javelinas their first win at Foster Field since the 2022 season.
The Fulshear, Texas native now sits second in the LSC with 48 strikeouts in just 32.1 innings pitched. Schumann took home freshman of the year honors after the 2025 season and was named to the preseason NCBWA South-Central Region team.
