Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville looks to get back on track at Nolan Ryan Field as it takes on regional rival Texas A&M-International in a four game series beginning on Friday.
The Javelinas are coming off a tough series loss to Angelo State, however they avoided the sweep by taking the first game of the series in a 14-inning classic. The Dustdevils did not fare as well, dropping their last four games to UT-Dallas in Laredo last week. The Javelinas have historically handled the Dustdevils well, notching a series sweep last season from Jorge Haynes Field.
Reliever pitching has been very successful in recent weeks for the Javelinas, as both
Tyler Schumann and
Garrett Nail have seen their opportunities come out of the bullpen over the last two series. The duo were instrumental in the Javelinas game one victory over Angelo, combining for 17 strikeouts while allowing just two hits.
Offensively, the Javelinas have been knocking extra-base hits at a higher rate over the past two weeks. This includes six home runs over the last eight games, courtesy of
Isaiah Aguilar,
Travis Vlasek,
Isaiah Aguilar and
Cade Minus.
Nick Reyes leads all qualified Javelinas with a .546 slugging percentage as well.
First pitch is set for 6:00 on Thursday, fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the action at JavelinaBSB on X.
Quick Hitters:
- Schumann's outing against Angelo earned him LSC Pitcher of the week after the redshirt-sophomore righty tossed 6.1 innings of no-hitter baseball with nine strikeouts.

- Nail's 65 K's are an LSC best and rank in the top five in all of DII.
