Austin — The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina STUNT team wrapped up their final road trip of the regular season at the SEU Tournament in Austin, Texas over the weekend, going 0-4 against one of the toughest fields they have faced all season. A gauntlet that featured four ranked opponents from top to bottom.
Friday, March 6
The Javelinas opened the tournament against No. 17 Ferris State, falling 13-21 in a battle that showed TAMUK can go toe-to-toe with ranked competition. The Javelinas kept it close and competed hard before turning around to face No. 3 Dallas Baptist, one of the best programs in the country. Despite the 3-24 final, stepping on the mat against a top 3 program is an experience that will pay off during the conference tournament.
Saturday, March 7
Saturday opened with a matchup against No. 22 Southern Nazarene, with the Javelinas falling 12-30. TAMUK closed out the weekend against No. 7 Central Arkansas in a 17-24 loss that was their most competitive showing of the day, proving this program belongs on the same mat as the nation's best.
Facing four ranked opponents in two days on the road is no small feat, and the Javelinas rose to the challenge all weekend long. The experience gained in Austin will be invaluable as TAMUK heads into the postseason stretch.
