Javelina STUNT Closes Out Historic Season at LSC Championship in Dallas

Dallas, Texas — The Texas A&M-Kingsville STUNT team traveled to Dallas this weekend for the 2026 Lone Star Conference STUNT Championship, hosted at the Burg Center. The Javelinas went 1-2 over two days of competition, defeating St. Edward's University before falling to Dallas Baptist University and Texas Woman's University.

The Javelinas opened tournament play Friday morning against No. 25 St. Edward's University and came out strong, earning a dominant 23-8 victory to advance to the next round. The win set up a Friday afternoon matchup against No. 1 seed Dallas Baptist University, one of the tournament favorites. The Patriots proved to be a tough test, handing Kingsville a 1-25 defeat and sending the Javelinas to the bottom bracket.

Saturday morning brought one final opportunity against No. 13 Texas Woman's University. The Javelinas competed hard but fell 3-25, bringing their tournament run to a close.

"What a way to end our second season," head coach Lindsey Garcia said. "So many memories and milestones made with Team 2. It has been amazing being able to coach and watch this program grow each and every week!"

The 2026 season marked just the second year of existence for the Javelina STUNT program, and by nearly every measure it was a historic one. Texas A&M-Kingsville set a new program record for wins in a season, finishing at 7-16 overall and showing continued growth in only its second year of competition.

"We went from just going to games last season and having fun and enjoying our small victories, to this year still having fun but celebrating the bigger victories," Garcia said. "Getting points on the score board each and every game, hitting new routines we never had before, and pushing through any obstacle that was thrown at us."

The program also said goodbye to its first graduating class, as Karlee Hinojosa, Liliana Mendiola, Alexia Garcia and Kyce Cochran became the first four seniors to complete their careers as Javelinas.

"I am sad to see our four seniors go as they helped build this program," Garcia said. "But I am so excited to see what life has in store for them as I know they are all going to do amazing things!"

Prior to the tournament, the program earned LSC recognition for the first time in its history at the 2026 LSC Banquet, with Kennedy Ward and Baylee Gard earning All-LSC Academic Team honors, and Bernice Asbury and Arabella Cobos earning spots on the All-LSC Second Team.

"To history being made once again by Javelina STUNT by having four student athletes be awarded at our LSC Banquet," Garcia said. "Those awards were well deserved and I am beyond grateful to watch it happen."

What began as a program finding its footing has grown into something special. For Javelina STUNT, this is only the beginning.
