Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville scored in double-figures for the seventh time this season as they downed Oklahoma Christian, 13-6, Saturday at Nolan Ryan Field.
The Javelinas (15-7, 15-7 LSC) racked up 16 hits to earn their fifth series victory of the season over the Eagles (7-15, 7-15 LSC).
Cade Minus had another incredible series finale, racking up three hits and three RBIs including a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth that blew the game wide open.
Minus' double was included in a five run bottom of the sixth after the Javelinas and Eagles found themselves in a 4-4 tie.
Nathan Gamez brought in the first runner of the inning with an RBI-single that gave the Javelinas the lead, but it was the two-RBI shot from Minus that put the Javelinas in control.
Isaiah Aguilar also racked up and RBI as well giving the Javelinas full control of the contest.Â
Oklahoma Christian was not done fighting however, as a two-run homer got them right back in the game with no outs in the seventh.
Brian Buchanan was called out of the bullpen to keep the Javelinas in the front and he would do just that. Buchanan pitched three shutout innings with three strikeouts to keep any late rally by the Eagles at bay.
The Javelinas were not in control wire-to-wire however, as Oklahoma struck first again with a four-run third inning to take an early lead.
Ethan Ortega stifled any remaining momentum however, pitching two spotless innings with a pair of strikeouts. The Javelinas then plated three runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to tie the contest, courtesy of RBIs from
Cash Benavidez, Aguilar and Minus.
Texas A&M-Kingsville hits the road for a big conference showdown against St. Mary's. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the action at JavelinaBSB on X.
