Kingsville - The Texas A&M-Kingsville STUNT team hits the road this week for the SEU Tournament in Austin, TX, carrying momentum and a program milestone into the weekend.
The Javelinas enter the tournament ranked No. 20 nationally with a 6-9 record, a mark that already tells a story. In just the second year of the program, TAMUK has surpassed last season's win total, breaking the program record with five games remaining. The growth from year one to year two has been undeniable.
"I'm excited for this weekend, we are playing some good teams and I believe our girls are ready to go out there and give it their all," head coach Lindsey Garcia said. "This is our last weekend traveling before we head to conference and so we are hoping to end this off on a good note!"
Friday, March 6 | Austin, TX
TAMUK opens tournament play against No. 18 Ferris State (5-4) at 9:00 AM before squaring off with No. 3 Dallas Baptist (7-3) at 11:00 AM. The matchup with DBU is one of the premier tests of the weekend, as the Patriots are one of the top programs in the country and a measuring stick for where the Javelinas stand nationally.
Saturday, March 7 | Austin, TX
The Javelinas return to the floor to face No. 22 Southern Nazarene (1-7) at 4:00 PM before closing out the weekend against No. 7 Central Arkansas (2-6) at 6:00 PM. The matchup with Southern Nazarene carries extra motivation, as the Storm's only win this season came against TAMUK by just five points. The Javelinas will be looking for redemption when the two teams meet Saturday afternoon.
Competing against a field that includes a conference matchup and a familiar opponent, TAMUK has a chance to make a statement in Austin. The program record book has already been rewritten once this season and the Javelinas are looking to keep adding to it this weekend.
