San Angelo, Tx - Texas A&M-Kingsville travels northwest to Foster Field for a big-time matchup against long-standing Lone Star Conference rival Angelo State in a four-game series beginning on Friday.

Sitting just a pair of games behind the Rams in the LSC standings, the Javelinas will have a golden opportunity to get a big boost down the home stretch. To do so, the Javelinas will need to reverse recent history once again, as they are riding a 10-game skid against Angelo State dating back to the 2023 season.

The offense for the Javelinas has been the driving force this season, posting the second highest batting average in the LSC (.337) with the most AB's (999). Texas A&M-Kingsville also is in a tie for the conference lead in hits (337) and triples (13). Powering the offense has been standout-sophomore Landon Salinas, who leads the Javelinas in batting average, hits and RBI's while sitting in the conference's top-ten in average and hits as well.

Salinas is not the only Javelinas sitting atop the leaderboards in the Lone Star Conference. Junior righty Garrett Nail is having an exceptional debut season for the Javelinas after transferring in from Angelina College, leading the LSC with 57 strikeouts. That mark is good for top-five in all of division II as well. Nail put up a career-best 14 K's last series against Lubbock Christian, the most for any pitcher in the LSC since 2021.

Nail and the rest of the pitching staff will need to be on their best behavior against the Rams however, as Angelo State boasts one of the best hitters in the LSC in Austin Beck. The redshirt-senior has one back-to-back LSC Hitter of the Week awards earlier this season and is posting a .355 batting average to go with 33 RBI's.

Javelinas versus Rams kicks off Friday at 6:00 pm from Foster Field. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the action at JavelinaBSB on X.
