Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville returns to Nolan Ryan Field in search of a bounce-back series against Lubbock Christian University in a four-game series beginning on Friday.
The Javelinas will need to change recent history against the Chaparrals, as the Javelinas are currently on a nine-game skid against LCU over the previous three seasons. The Chaps are also riding high in recent weeks, splitting their series against Angelo State and sweeping Texas A&M-International.
For the Javelinas to get back to their winning ways, the offense will need to increase its production from last week's series. The Javelinas crossed double-digit hits just a single time last week, and had a pair of games where they did not record a single walk offensively.
Travis Vlasek did post a solid outing however, notching at least one hit in every game of the series with a pair of doubles and RBI's.
The Javelinas will also need to contend with one of the better offenses in the LSC. LCU is currently fourth in the conference in batting average and, despite not having reigning LSC player of the year Brevin McCool, lead the conference in slugging percentage and are second with 31 home runs.
To contend with the bats of the Chaps, the Hogs will need solid outings from a number of true-freshman arms. Headlined by Wright, the Javelinas also utilize
Sawyer Smith and
Ethan Ortega from the bullpen in major spots of their games. The duo has combined for just 17.2 innings of work, but have collected 17 strikeouts between them and hold opposing batter to a batting average under .300
First pitch for this weekends' series is set for 6:00 pm on Friday from Nolan Ryan Field. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the action at JavelinaBSB on X.
