Box Score San Antonio, TX - Texas A&M-Kingsville was not able to complete a late comeback as it fell, 3-8, in the series finale against St Mary's on Sunday.
The Javelinas (15-11, 15-11 LSC) brought the game to a 2-3 lead after
Landon Salinas drove in
Braden Duff in the top of the sixth. The Rattlers however (19-7, 19-7) kept the Javelinas off the board further, eventually scoring enough runs to put the game away in San Antonio.
The contest began in the Javelinas favor, as
Travis Vlasek's RBI-double brought in the first run of the game. The Rattlers responded with a three run third inning after a three-RBI double cleared the bases.Â
Daniel Cardona would get called to the mound after the third, where he would toss 4.2 innings with four strikeouts. He would keep the Rattlers off the board until the seventh, where St Mary's scored three runs to build a six-run lead. The Javelinas got a run back, but it would not be enough as they dropped the series finale.
Offensively, the Javelinas eclipsed double-digit hits for the first time this series with 11, but a majority of those hits either came with two out and no runners on. The Javelinas out-hit the Rattler as well, but STMU got four aboard via balls as well as a pair of runners getting hit by pitches to led to the extra base runners.
Texas A&M-Kingsville returns to Nolan Ryan Field to take on Lubbock Christian University in a four-game series beginning on Friday at 6:00 pm. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the action at JavelinaBSB on X.
