San Antonio -The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina STUNT team competed in the St. Mary's Tournament over the weekend, going 2-3 against a challenging field that included two of the top programs in the country.
Saturday, February 28
The Javelinas opened against UC Davis, picking up a 22-15 victory to get the tournament started on the right foot. TAMUK executed their game plan well against the Aggies, securing a quality win to open the weekend.
Saturday's second match presented a steep challenge, as No. 2 University of Kentucky handed the Javelinas a 2-26 setback. Despite the score, competing against one of the premier programs in the country provided valuable experience for the TAMUK squad.
Sunday, March 1
Sunday opened with a rematch against Kentucky, with the Wildcats again proving to be a tough test in a 0-24 loss. The Javelinas then fell to No. 14 St. Mary's University 8-27 in a Lone Star Conference matchup, a result the team will look to learn from as conference play continues to heat up.
TAMUK closed out the tournament with a forfeit win over No. 22 Quincy University to finish the weekend 2-3.
Up next, the Javelinas head to Austin for the SEU Tournament on March 6-7, where they will face No. 17 Ferris State, No. 3 Dallas Baptist, No. 23 Southern Nazarene, and No. 7 Central Arkansas.
