Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville returns back to its friendly confines of Nolan Ryan Field to take on top-ranked UT-Tyler in a four game series beginning on Friday at 6:00 pm.
A rematch of the Lone Star Conference tournament first round last season, the Javelinas will look to send a message to the rest of division II by taking down one of the best teams in the country in the Patriots, who won the South-Central Regional and reached the College World Series last year.
History can also be made at Nolan Ryan Field this weekend. Head Coach
Jason Gonzales is currently one win away from reaching 500 career wins at Texas A&M-Kingsville, the first coach in university history to eclipse that mark.Â
The Javelinas will need to maintain their current form if they want to come out with a series win over the Patriots. Currently, the Hogs lead the LSC in batting average (.340) and total base hits (119) while plating the third-most runs in the conference through three weeks. The bats will be up against an equally strong pitching defense from the Patriots however, as they lead the conference in opponent batting average (.236) and are third in fielding percentage (96.1%).
In fact, nine Javelinas are currently batting at .300 or more through 10 games of the 2026 season.
Landon Salinas,
Joshua Endo and
Braden Duff lead the way for the Javelinas with averages north of .400 and OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) greater than 1.00.
Texas A&M-Kingsville's pitching staff is not to be underestimated however, as they have been off to an excellent start this season. The Javelinas lead the LSC the strikeouts with 96 and boast the only two pitchers to have 20-plus K's in Nail and Schumann. The bullpen is rounding into form as well, with true-freshmen
Sawyer Smith and
Zachary Wright kicking off their collegiate careers in good form.
First pitch for the four-game series is set for 6:00 pm on Friday. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the action at JavelinaBSB on X.
