Javelinas Return to Dallas for Second DBU Tournament

Kingsville - The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina STUNT team returns to Dallas this week for their second DBU Tournament of the season, where they will face three opponents over two days of competition.

The Javelinas are looking to build on lessons learned from their first trip to Dallas earlier this month, where they posted a 1-3 record against a challenging slate of ranked opponents. The 18th-ranked Javelinas secured a statement 27-12 victory over No. 21 St. Edward's University while gaining valuable experience in losses to No. 4 Dallas Baptist (25-3), No. 14 Southern Nazarene (22-17), and No. 11 Texas Woman's University (19-3).

"This weekend is going to be a good weekend at DBU," Head Coach Lindsey Garcia said. "We will be playing SEU who we beat last tournament. We will also be facing two teams we have never played before, we are super excited and hope to have some good turnouts!"

Thursday, February 19

The tournament begins with an evening doubleheader on Thursday. TAMUK will open against No. 21 St. Edward's University at 5:30 PM in a rematch of their earlier victory, before taking on Hope International University (Calif.) at 7:00 PM.

The rematch with St. Edward's provides an opportunity for the Javelinas to prove their earlier dominant performance was no fluke. The Hilltoppers will undoubtedly be looking for revenge after the 27-12 defeat earlier this month. Hope International represents a new challenge and another chance for Kingsville to add to the win column against unfamiliar competition.

Friday, February 20

The tournament concludes Friday morning when the Javelinas face Arizona Christian University at 8:00 AM.

With three matches against quality opponents, the second DBU Tournament offers the Javelinas another opportunity to implement adjustments and continue their development in the program's second season. The confidence gained from their previous victory over St. Edward's could provide momentum as TAMUK looks to string together multiple wins in a single tournament.
