Odessa, Tx - Texas A&M-Kingsville travels to UT-Permian Basin for the first four-game series of the 2026 season at Roden Field with history on the line.

With a series sweep over the Falcons, the Javelians will give Head Coach Jason Gonzales his 500th career win as a head coach for Texas A&M-Kingsville. Gonzales is already the winningest coach in program history, and would become the first Javelina coach to ever eclipse the five-century mark in Javelina athletics history.

To get there, the Javelinas will need to rely on their incredibly strong pitching staff, which is currently nine-up on the next closest team in strikeouts with 71. Three individuals also take up the top three spots on the leaderboard for K's. Nail and Schumann each have 16 strikeouts each, the high mark in the conference, while Cardona sits in third place with 13.

The last series against Cameron saw a group of Javelinas have some career moments as well. Cardona matched his career high in strikeouts with nine, Brian Buchanan set a new career high with seven K's through just 3.2 innings of work while Zachary Wright notched his first strikeout of his career in game two of the series.

The pitching staff will be taking on a very disciplined UTPB team however, as the Falcons have the fewest strikeouts as an offense in the LSc with just 32. Despite that, UTPB does sit at the bottom of the conference with only 47 total hits and 21 walks.

The Javelinas meanwhile have had a solid start offensively, sitting in a tie for second with 65 total hits and ranking sixth with 55 total runs scored. Where the Hogs have done their most damage however has been on the base paths, as they currently lead the LSC with 23 stolen bases. Four Javelinas have notched at least four stolen bases this season in Easton Hewitt, Landon Salinas, Braden Duff and Isaiah Aguilar.
