LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina STUNT team opened their 2026 campaign at the McNeese State University Tournament on Sunday, finishing 1-2 in their season debut with victories and lessons learned against competitive opposition.

The day began with challenges as TAMUK faced 11th-ranked Texas Woman's University in the opener. The Pioneers proved why they earned their preseason ranking, handing the Javelinas an 18-1 defeat in a tough start to the tournament.

The match against host McNeese State saw another difficult result, with the Javelinas falling 16-4.

"This team is very rookie heavy, we had a lot of fears and nerves going into this weekend but they came out and they did their absolute best," Head Coach Lindsey Garcia said.

The Javelinas showed their resilience in the final match, securing a commanding 15-3 victory over Centenary College (Louisiana). The win showcased the team's ability to bounce back and execute when it mattered most.

"Despite the short fall for the first two games we came back for the third and ended with a victory!" Garcia said. "I am super excited to come back home and make the necessary changes for our next game coming up."

The tournament served as an important measuring stick for the 18th-ranked Javelinas, who are building on their historic inaugural season that saw them capture the program's first-ever postseason victory. While the two losses highlighted areas for growth, the convincing win over Centenary demonstrated the team's potential and competitive spirit.

The Javelinas will look to build on the positive finish as they continue a challenging 2026 schedule that includes matchups against multiple top-15 teams, including No. 4 DBU, No. 10 St. Mary's, No. 14 Southern Nazarene, and even a showdown with No. 2 University of Kentucky in Division 1 STUNT.
