Portales, NM – Texas A&M-Kingsville will return home with its first series win of 2026 after dismantling Eastern New Mexico, 18-3, Sunday from Greyhound Baseball Stadium.
The Javelinas (2-1, 2-1 LSC) used 13 hits to plate double-digit runs for the first time in their young 2026 season. Six extra base hits, including three triples, helped power the Javelinas to the most runs they scored against the Greyhounds (1-2, 1-2 LSC) since the 2018 season. Catcher
Fisher Davis led all Javelinas with three hits, two doubles and four RBI's. His four RBI's sets a new career high for the native of Gonzales, Texas.
It was a pitching-by-committee day for the Javelinas, five different Hogs saw action on the mound starting with senior
Daniel Cardona. The San Antonio native tossed three full innings of work, notching four K's and giving up a pair of runs in the first inning.
Xando Castillo would check in after that, tossing two innings and earning himself the first win of the season.
Clark Scallon, Brian Buchannan and
Zachary Wright all saw action as well.
After Eastern New Mexico plated the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the first, the Javelinas erupted for six runs in the second inning. Davis got the party started with a two-run double that brought in
Landon Salinas and Elijah West to even up the contest.
Travis Vlasek, starting his first game of the season, would bring in Davis with an RBI single that was followed up by
Braden Duff scoring on an ENMU error.
Isaiah Aguilar and
Easton Hewitt each knocked in RBI's to wrap up a 6-run inning for the Javelinas.
Two-out hitting was the name of the game for the Javelinas in this contest, going 8-15 with two outs on the board. Duff contributed to this count in the third, notching an RBI single with two outs that brought Davis home to make it a five-run lead. The Greyhounds did attempt a rally in the fourth, bringing in a run to cut the lead back down to four with an RBI-double, but would leave a pair of base runners stranded as Castillo got out of that jam.
From there, the Javelinas controlled the rest of the contest, scoring four runs through the fifth, sixth and seventh to take a commanding 11-3 lead. The levy broke for the Hogs in the eighth however, as the Javelinas scored every-which-way they could to put up seven runs in the eighth.
Nick Reyes,
Cade Minus and
Damian Carreon each recorded RBI's in the inning as the Javelinas cruised their way to series victory number one.
