Richardson, TX - Texas A&M-Kingsville puts its conference winning streak on the line as it takes on the newest member of the Lone Star Conference in UT-Dallas Thursday from the UTD Activity center.
The Javelinas (7-6, 4-1 LSC) have built themselves a four-game winning streak in the LSC with a pair of wins to kick off 2026 against Cameron University and Oklahoma Christian and currently sit in a tie for third in the conference standings with West Texas A&M. Meanwhile, the Comets (2-1, 1-3 LSC) are coming off their second win of the season, taking down Dallas Christian 95-66 at home.
A reason for the recent success of the Javelinas can be attributed to their ability to rebound the basketball over the previous two games, posting a plus-28 rebound advantage in those two contests. Leading the way for the Javelinas was
Bryson Goldsmith, who averaged seven rebounds to go with 21.5 points per game last week on his way to winning Defensive Player of the Week.
UT-Dallas poses a unique challenge for the Javelinas, as their offense sits right in the middle of the conference in scoring. In just conference play, however, that ranking jumps up to the fourth best in the LSC with 82.8 points per game. This is due in large part to UTD having the fourth best three-point shooting percentage in conference play this season.
While the Comet offense has been very good in LSC play, the Javelinas can find advantages with a resurging offense thanks to UTD allowing the highest opponent field-goal percentage and the third-most points per game in conference games. The Javelinas will turn to
TJ Ford Jr. to help their offense keep rolling, as the Houston native scored a career-high 25 points in Texas A&M-Kingsville's last game against Oklahoma Christian.
On defense, the Javelinas will look to senior guard
Nate Garcia to stop the Comets' primary ball handler and slow down their offense. While not necessarily lighting up the box score, Garcia has made timely basketballs and defensive stops to help propel the Javelinas on their current winning streak.
Tip-off for Thursday's contest is set for 7:30 from Richardson. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the game at JavelinaMBB on X.
