Alpine, TX - Texas A&M-Kingsville looks to bounce back after last week's conference opener as it hits the road to take on Sul Ross State University at Jackson Field on Saturday.
The Javelinas (1-2, 0-1 LSC) dropped a hard-fought battle against nationally ranked UT-Permian Basin, 30-43, in their LSC opener. Now the Javelinas kickoff a two-game road trip in Alpine to take on the Lobos (0-3, 0-1) who are also looking to bounce back after their conference opener as well.
Saturday's game in Alpine will be a long time coming for Texas A&M-Kingsville, who has not played a game at Sul Ross State since 1975 where it won, 50-26. The last three times the teams have played, each contest was in Javelinas Stadium.
Despite back-to-back losses for the Javelinas, the offense under Head Coach Scott Parr has been effective and efficient, ranking inside the top-20 for passing yards per game and points per game across Division II. The offensive line for the Javelinas also has yet to give up a sack this season.
On the other side of the ball, the Javelinas look to regain their form from week one of the season after allowing 40-or-more points in back-to-back weeks. A bright spot has been the defensive line, who has registered at least one sack in three straight games.
Sul Ross State is also looking to find its footing through three games this season, being outscored 195-3. An important note though is that two of their first three games were against Division I opponents in UTRGV and Stephen F. Austin.
Kickoff for Saturday's contest is set for 7:00 pm from Jackson Field. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the game at JavelinaFB on X
