Kingsville - A total of ten individual athletes, seven women and three men, received the prestigious U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Academic Award, in addition to the women's team earning the All-Academic Team award.
The USTFCCCA gives the award out yearly to "those individuals and teams who stood out in all areas of the student-athlete experience [...] for the 2025 collegiate track & field seasons."
On the women's side, graduating seniors
Madison Alegria, Katlyna Hernandez,
Jazmin Ray,
Vitiana Robert, junior
Madison Ramos, and freshmen
Oneika Brissett and
Sakara Wade received the honor, while senior
Roel DeLeon, and juniors
Blake Gordon and
Django Segovia earned the award. Ray caps off not only a stellar career, but also a final season that saw her receive the Lone Star Conference's Academic Athlete of the Year award during the outdoor track and field season. Just a few months earlier, Robert was named the NCAA's Elite 90 Award winner during the Indoor season, the NCAA's most prestigious academic award.
The women's team also won the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Team award, earned by hard work and excellent performance in the classroom, on the track, and in the field, by the entire roster - they posted a team GPA of 3.02 during the spring semester.
