Kingsville - With a record-breaking performance on Saturday at the Crimson and Gold Invitational, Texas A&M-Kingsville women's track and field senior high jumper
Madison Ramos earned the second Lone Star Conference Field Athlete of the Week award of her career.
Ramos' clearance of a bar set at 1.76m (5-9.25) not only broke her own program record in the event, but is also the second-highest jump in the nation so far this season. It marks the third straight time that a Javelina has brought home the award, stretching back to the final two weeks of last year's indoor season. The honor also continues an incredible tear that the women's field crew has been on in recent years, as it marks the seventh such award that the team has won over the last three seasons.
One of those previous six also belongs to Ramos, who won the first such award of her career for her work during the last week of her freshman indoor campaign (2023), when she cleared 1.60m at the Howie Ryan Invitational at Houston.
Ramos led a stellar set of Javelina performances in Pittsburg, KS this past weekend as the women's and men's track and field teams opened up their indoor seasons. They will be back in action on January 10 in Houston to begin the 2026 portion of their schedule at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational.
