Laredo, TX - Texas A&M-Kingsville returns to familiar territory to take on Texas A&M-International in a four-game weekend series at Jorge Haynes Field.
This weekend's series is about as must-win as it gets for the Javelinas, who are currently on a ten-game skid after dropping the series to No. 1 Angelo State. Standing in their way is an equally desperate Dustdevil team, who is on a seven-game losing streak of their own.
Both teams are very familiar with each other, as the teams have faced off twice already this season in a pair of non-conference showdowns in Laredo and Kingsville respectively. Last time the Hogs were in the gateway city, they handled TAMUI with ease winning 15-3.
Vincent Sanchez would erupt in the game, notching four hits with four RBI's and scoring three runs himself.
Nick Reyes would also hit his lone homerun of the year as well.
The pitching staff will also get a good test against the Dustdevils this week. Texas A&M-International boasts three batters with above a .300 average and above a .500 slugging percentage. The Hogs however currently boast the third best team-ERA as well as a tie for second in total strikeouts with 263. Teams also have not hit the long-ball against the Javelinas, who are tied for first in homeruns given up in the conference.
Game of the series against Texas A&M-International is set for a 2:00 pm first pitch. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the series live on FloCollege or follow the game at JavelinaBSB on Twitter.
