Canyon - Texas A&M-Kingsvill hits the road for the final regular-season series of the 2025 season against West Texas A&M over the weekend.
With the Lone Star Conference tournament on the horizon, the Javelinas are in a position to control their own destiny and punch their ticket to postseason play. After a series win over St. Edwards last week, the Javelinas now sit in the final spot for the LSC tournament and are game up on Eastern New Mexico for the number seven spot.
Based on this weekend's results across the conference, the Javelinas could rise to as high as the No. 5 spot in the conference tournament. The Buffaloes and St. Mary's currently occupy the No. 6 and 5 spot in the standings, with the Rattlers traveling to Tyler to take on nationally ranked UT-Tyler.Â
Any scenario however requires the Javelinas to handle business in Canyon, and the bats will need to stay red hot against WT. The Buffaloes boast the third best batting average in the conference with a .333 mark. They also lead the LSC in triples with 21 and are second in home runs with 60.Â
This past week however, the Javelinas offense looked as good as it has looked all season. A standout bat for the Javelinas last week was
Maurice Martinez who piled up seven hits, seven RBI's, a double and an absurd three triples against the Hilltoppers. The true freshman from San Antonio is now tied for a conference-best five triples while batting .308 on the season.
Game one of this weekend's series against West Texas A&M is set for a 4:00 pm first pitch from Wilder Park. Fans of the Javelinas can watch live on FloCollege or follow the game at JavelinaBSB on Twitter.
