Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville returns to action after its bye week for the final homestead of the 2025 season against No. 21 St. Edward's University in a four game series.
The Javelinas are coming off a sweep of Texas A&M-International two weeks ago; that series sweep broke up a 10-game skid for the Javelinas. Now, the Javelinas take on a nationally ranked Hilltopper team that is playing in its final series of the regular season before the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
The final two series for the Javelinas will determine their fate for the postseason, as they currently sit two games behind the seventh-place spot in the LSC standings. The LSC conference tournament will take the top-seven teams in the conference, so the Javelinas will need to scoop up wins where they can get them against the Hilltoppers and next week against West Texas A&M.
In order to get these wins, the Javelinas need
Nick Reyes and
Maurice Martinez to continue their hot streaks. The duo combined for nine hits and 10 RBI's in the series against TAMIU, with three of those RBI's coming in the 12th inning of game two thanks to a bases-clearing go-ahead double from Reyes.
Strong pitching is how both the Hilltoppers and Javelinas want to win their games. Both teams sit in the top six for ERA, opponent batting average and total strikeouts in the conference, with the two teams leading the LSC in innings pitched. Depth is a key factor for the Hogs, as
Marco Martinez,
Daniel Cardona and
Tyler Schumann all had strong showings against the Dustdevils.
Game one of the series against St. Edward's is set for 6:00 pm on Thursday from Nolan Ryan Field. Fans of the Javelinas can watch live on FloCollege or follow the game at JavelinaBSB on Twitter.
