San Antonio - At its first ever triangular meet, the Texas A&M - Kingsville STUNT team split its games, falling 21-5 to the host squad, St. Mary's, before taking down St. Edward's for the second time this season, 11-4.
The win is the third in program history for TAMUK's newest NCAA Championship sport. After losing seven straight games to start their first ever season, the Javelinas have now won three of their last seven.
"I am so beyond proud of what these girls put out on the mat today," Head Coach Lindsey Garcia said. "We managed to take home another win, but also get some points against St. Mary's."
After a grueling schedule of road games, including multiple instances in which the team played at least four games across two days of competition, the team now has more than a week off before its home opener. That time will be used to add to the team's growing momentum, as they have now moved into the top 20 teams in D2 in the nation. The Javelinas moved up a spot, from No.20 to No.19
"Each week these girls impress me as we excel in so many aspects and manage to exceed our team goals," Garcia said.
Kingsville's next game will be in the SPEC on March 15th at 5 p.m., when the team is set to host St. Edwards's for the Javelinas' season finale.
