Javelinas drop first double-header to Rams

Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville fell in the first of two double-headers to Angelo State Sunday at Nolan Ryan Field.

The Javelinas (19-17, 18-16 LSC) dropped Sunday's pair of games, 0-7 and 1-12, to the No. 4 Rams (26-6, 24-6 LSC) in the penultimate homestead of the 2025 season. The two losses now put the Javelinas in a eight-game losing streak and just two games above .500.

Game one's seven inning schedule saw Gabriel LeBlanc get the start on the mound for the Javelinas. The sophomore righty had a solid showing to start, tossing four shutout innings with a pair of K's. The run support just was not there for the Javelinas, as the Hogs got just one runner on with a walk in the first four innings.

ASU opened up the floodgates in the fifth, scoring five runs with two hits and two Javelina errors. Texas A&M-Kingsville was able to break up the Angelo no-hitter in the seventh, but could not plate a run for the second time all season as it fell in game one.

In the second game of the day, Ruben Rendon III got his first start of the season for the Javelinas. The native of Kingsville, Texas, struck out a pair in the first inning but surrendered three runs to the Rams. The Hogs would get the run back quickly, as Jacob Cueva would get Easton Hewitt home after a pair of singles from Hewitt and Vincent Sanchez.

While the run would get the Hogs close, it would not deter the Rams offense. Angelo State powered two homeruns over the left field wall in the third and fifth inning put them up big. An insurance run in the top of the seventh put plenty of distance between themselves and the Hogs to close out game two.

Games three and four are set for Monday at 1:00 pm. Fans of the Javelinas can watch live on FloCollege or follow the games at JavelinaBSB on Twitter.
