Javelinas fall in double-header games against LCU

Lubbock, TX - Texas A&M-Kingsville fell in both games in Saturday's double-header against Lubbock Christian on Saturday.

The Javelinas (19-14, 18-13 LSC) lost in heartbreaking fashion in game one, 8-9, before dropping the second game 4-12 against the Chaparrals (19-10, 18-9 LSC). LCU took home the series victory over the Javelinas, making it just the third series loss for the Hogs this season.

Game one of Saturday's double-header ended in traumatic fashion for the Javelinas, as after Maurice Martinez and Isaiah Aguilar both hit solo-homeruns in the top of the seventh to give the Javelinas a 8-6 lead, the Chaps scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh however and walked-off the first game of the series.

This game did feature a major highlight for the Javelinas however. After the bases were loaded in the third inning, Easton Hewitt drilled one over the left field wall for the first grand slam of the season for the Javelinas. It was one of three homeruns for the Hogs this game, but it was not enough to overcome the Chaps.

Game two began as a pitchers duel between the two teams, as the Hogs found themselves down 0-1 early in the game but limited the damage the Chaps did. RBI's from Damian Carreon, Aguilar and Hewitt drove in four runs in the fourth inning for the Hogs to retake the lead. However, the Chaps scored 11 unanswered runs to take the series win over the Javelinas.

Texas A&M-Kingsville looks to avoid the sweep in the series finale on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. CST. Fans of the Javelinas can watch live on FloCollege or follow the game at JavelinaBSB on Twitter.
