Edmond, OK - Texas A&M-Kingsville could not overcome a slow start as it fell to Oklahoma Christian, 76-67, on Thursday at the Payne Athletic Center.
The Javelinas (9-13, 5-11 Lone Star Conference) fell down 17-3 within the first seven minutes of the contest to the Eagles (7-14, 4-12 LSC). Although there were moments in the game where the Javelinas appeared to be working their way back, the offense just was not clicking as they fell in the first of four-straight road games.
Later in the first half, Texas A&M-Kingsville was able to work their way back to a single-digit deficit thanks to a
Jake Arnold 3-pointer, and even got the game within five after a
Nate Lacewell 3-pointer. Oklahoma Christian quickly responded however, getting the game to a 17-point advantage at the half.
In the second half, the Javelinas were not able to dig into the Eagles lead, as every time the Javelinas would score, Oklahoma Christian answered right back.
James Livingston did make the contest interesting after getting to the foul line to get it to a 10-point game, but it was not enough for the Javelinas.
Bryson Goldsmith led the Javelinas with 17 points, Lacewell also scored in double figures with 10.
Daniel Sanchez and Lacewell led the team with seven rebounds while Livingston finished with eight assists.Â
Texas A&M-Kingsville concludes their Oklahoma road trip against Cameron on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m. CST. Fans of the Javelinas can watch live on FloCollege or follow live coverage at JavelinaMBB on Twitter.
