Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville could not overcome eight runs in the first two innings from Texas A&M-International as it fell, 8-2 , Wednesday in Kingsville.
The Javelinas (9-9, 8-8 LSC) allowed eight runs on eight hits with two errors through the first two frames of the game and could not reignite the bats as the game wore on as they fell in the second non-conference tilt against the Dust Devils (8-10, 7-9 LSC). Texas A&M-Kingsville was able to get two runs in the first, but it was not enough in Kingsville.
Joshua Endo nailed a lead-off double into right field to get the offense rolling in the bottom of the first,
Vincent Sanchez then got Endo home with an RBI single to get the Javelinas on the board. A single from
Nick Reyes and a walk from
Elijia West loaded the bases, and
Maurice Martinez paid it off with an RBI single to get two runs on the board.
From there, the offense struggled to get production going, but the pitching staff kept the Javelinas in it.
Ruben Rendon III,
Adam DeBoer,
Ethan Campos and
Marco Martinez all notched at least one strikeout and kept Texas A&M-International at arms length.Â
Heading into the eighth, the Javelinas relied on
Daniel Cardona to keep themselves in this game. Cardona would ring up the three straight Dust Devils batters and was just two balls away from pitching an immaculate inning for the Javelinas. The Hogs would load the bases in the bottom of the eight after three Dust Devil errors, but could not cash in a run and still trailed 2-8.Â
TAMUI cashed in another two runs in the top of the ninth as the Javelinas entered desperation mode in the bottom of the ninth.
Kike Alvarado and
Easton Hewitt would score runs after and RBI from Hewitt score Alvarado and a fielding error brought Hewitt home. It would not be enough however as the Javelinas fell at home
Texas A&M-Kingsville returns to conference action to take on Sul Ross State at Nolan Ryan Field. Fans of the Javelinas can watch live on FloCollege or follow live coverage at JavelinaBSB on Twitter.
