Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville returns to Nolan Ryan Field for a second non-conference game against Texas A&M-International on Wednesday.
The Javelinas (9-8, 8-8 LSC) are coming off a tough outing against UT-Tyler over the weekend. All four games were competitive for the Hogs, but Texas A&M-Kingsville could not pull a win out of the series. Seeking a bounce back performance, the Javelinas set their sights on the Dust Devils (7-10, 6-10 LSC).
Last time these two teams matched up, the Javelinas jumped all over Texas A&M-International in Laredo. Texas A&M-Kingsville scored a season-high 15 runs on 16 hits while only surrendering three runs to dust the Dust Devils off in Laredo.Â
To get back in the win column, the Javelinas offense will need to get back on track. After scoring 25 runs in the previous home series against UTPB, the Javelinas scored just 10 runs against UT-Tyler. TAMUI might be the remedy the Javelinas needed however, as the Dust Devils have allowed the second most runs in the conference with 143 runs.Â
Moving over to the pitching staff, the Javelinas might look to get as many of their arms some game reps as possible. This could include
Tyler Schumann, who has been nothing short of exceptional since becoming a closing arm for the Javelinas. The redshirt-freshman has not allowed a single run since moving to a bullpen arm and has struck out five across three appearances.
First pitch for Wednesday's contest is 6:00 p.m. CST from Nolan Ryan Field. Fans of the Javelinas can watch live on FloCollege or follow live coverage at JavelinaBSB on Twitter.
