Tyler - Texas A&M-Kingsville fell in game one of its four game series against UT-Tyler, 9-0, Saturday at Irwin Field.
The Javelinas (9-5, 8-5 LSC) were shutout for the first time this season against the Patriots (11-2, 11-2 LSC) and allowed a tied-season high nine runs. Today's game marks the end of a seven-game winning streak the Javelinas had, dating back to game three against Cameron University.
Karson Shepherd was tabbed for the loss after going six innings and allowing four hits and three runs, two of which were earned. Shepherd was managing the game well through the first five innings. Only allowing two runs in the second innings put making quick work of the Patriot batters in the other four innings.
It was the offense for the Javelinas that just could not get rolling in this one. Texas A&M-Kingsville only notched five hits and left five runners on base.
Maurice Martinez would lead the Javelinas with two hits, but the offense struggled in Saturday's contest.
