Laredo, TX - Texas A&M-Kingsville continues their road trip tomorrow in a non-conference game against Texas A&M-International on Wednesday.
The Javelinas (4-4, 4-4 LSC) are coming off a 3-1 series victory over Cameron university from this past weekend. Three of the four games came down to late-game dramatics with the final contest between the Aggies and Javelinas coming down to a two-run ninth inning from the Hogs to take the series victory on Sunday.Â
Now, Texas A&M-Kingsville faces off against a familiar opponent in the Dust Devils (4-4, 4-4 LSC) in non-conference action at Jorge Haynes Stadium.
A major factor to what propelled the Javelinas to a series victory over Cameron University was the consistency in which Javelina batters were able to get on base.
Jacob Cueva erupted in that series, going for 10 hits on 16 at bats. Cueva also scored four times in the series.
Two other Javelinas who put on incredible performances were
Vincent Sanchez and
Elijia West. Both batters for the Hogs hit the first two home runs of the season, both of which came in game one of the series against the Aggies. West would get the party started with a two-run homer in the top of the third, then Sanchez fired one behind the wall in the top of the sixth that broke a 9-9 tie.
The Javelinas are also getting great production from their bullpen, especially behind the arms of
Gabriel LeBlanc and
Daniel Cardona. Neither pitcher has allowed a run across 8.3 innings pitched and have only surrendered three hits in that same span. LeBlanc earned the win in game one against the Aggies and Cardona earned a save in that same game.
First pitch for Wednesday's contest is set for 2:00 p.m. CST. Fans of the Javelinas can watch live on FloCollege or follow live coverage at JavelinaBSB on Twitter.
