San Antonio, Texas - Texas A&M-Kingsville could not keep up with Rogers State as it fell, , Wednesday at the River City Holiday Classic in San Antonio.
The Javelinas (5-5, 2-1 LSC) allowed the Hillcats (7-5) to shoot 59 percent from the floor and hit 11 three-pointers as it fell in the final game of the midseason tournament. Despite hitting seven shots beyond the arc themselves, the Javelinas only converted on 33 percent of their shots to drop to .500 on the season.
Through the first six minutes of the contest, the Javelinas were able to keep pace with Rogers State after a
Jadon Sautter three made it just a three-point deficit. The Hillcats opened up a 16-2 run after that bucket to take a commanding 17-point lead. A
James Livingston three-pointer cut that lead to just 10-points, but Rogers State reopened the flood gates to close out the half with a 17-point lead.
Half number two would not start much better for the Javelinas, as Rogers State hit their first four three-pointers to balloon the lead to 21 early in the half. Texas A&M-Kingsville tried to fight their way back into the game with a quick 6-0 run capped off with a
KC Udolisa driving layup, but Rogers State once again went on a run, this time being a 14-0 run, to put the game away for good.
Allen Singleton and
Bryson Goldsmith both finished with a team-high nine points while Sautter and Udolisa finished with seven each. Singleton led the Javelinas with six boards while three players finished with a pair of assists
