Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville was firing on all cylinders against Sul Ross State in a 56-21 victory on Saturday at Javelina Stadium.
Scoring the most points since the first game of 2022, the Javelinas (3-1, 2-0 Lone Star Conference) had six different players score a touchdown as they buried the Lobos (1-4, 0-3 LSC) for their third straight victory.
"Good to be back home, I felt we had a really good plan in place," said Head Coach Michael Salinas. "I don't know exactly how many drives we scored on, but we played really well on third down and we controlled time of possession. Defense played well, we didn't cover as well in the secondary, but its all fixable."
The Javelinas were incredibly balanced in today's matchup, finishing with 261 yards passing and 221 yards rushing.
Teague Sedtal was an integral part to the offense, scoring on four passing touchdowns and finishing with 251 total yards of offense.
That was not the only part of the game that was spectacular for the Javelinas. The defense, specifically the defensive line, dominated the Lobos offensive front. Racking of six sacks, the Javelinas had the Lobos' QB's running for their life the majority of the game.
The fireworks started early for the Javelinas, as the offense took their opening drive straight in for a touchdown thanks to a
Roger Hagan two-yard burst. The Lobos would answer back quickly, but the Javelinas absorbed the blow and fired back with a eight-yard scamper from
Santana Scott for the second touchdown of the game.
The game was beginning to get out of hand after a blocked field goal by
Khalen Leonard, and after a Sedtal TD to
Jackson Allen, the downpour was in full effect. Sul Ross would close the gap with another touchdown, but the Javelinas scored right before the half to give themselves a 14-point lead.
The second half kicked off with a bang thanks to Sedtal's third TD throw of the game off of a double reverse to
Isaiah Smalls. Another TD pass would go to Scott and the Javelinas found themselves up 28 points late in the third quarter.Â
Two more touchdowns would be put on the board for the Javelinas,
Raymond Hudson saw his first action of the season today and was incredibly effective in his playing time. The transfer from Harding rushed 10 times for 55 yards and a touchdown in his limited action.
Kannon Williams also got himself his first rushing touchdown of the season.
Texas A&M-Kingsville will remain at home to take on Midwestern State on October 5 at Javelinas Stadium.
