KINGSVILLE, Texas - The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team faced its final regular season doubleheader against the Texas A&M International Dustdevils on Friday afternoon, dropping both games, 9-0 and 8-5.
The Javelinas (23-26, 21-26 LSC) drop their third straight series and fall to ninth in the Lone Star Conference standings.
GAME ONEÂ
The Hogs could not muster any runs across the plate in game one as the Dustdevils took the lead early and didn't look back, scoring three runs in the second, third, and seventh innings to take the game, 9-0.
Jacob Rosales,
Ramsey Amador, and
Garrett Thompson all collected two hits in the game with both Amador and Thompson going 2-for-3.
Cody Templeton (5-3) is given the win for TAMIU while
Colton Taylor (2-7) is given the loss for TAMUK.
GAME TWO
The Dustdevils were first on the board once again in the second game of the afternoon, scoring six runs in the second inning. This time, however, the Javelinas were able to respond with three runs in the bottom of the frame thanks to a three-run home run by
Logan Crow. The homer is Crow's first of the season.
The Javelinas brought two more runs across the plate in the third to cut the deficit to one.
Michael Cervantes blasted the second home run of the game for the Hogs over the left field fence.Â
Up by one, the Dustdevils managed to extend their lead back to three with two runs in the fourth. Three scoreless innings followed before the Javelinas came up with one final chance in the final inning.Â
The Hogs threatened to tie or win the game, loading the bases with two outs following two singles and a walk, but were unable to convert as the game came to an end, 8-5.
Jan Cabrera (4-5) is credited with the win for the Dustdevils while
Daniel Cardona (2-3) is given the loss for the Javelinas.
The teams meet for one final game tomorrow afternoon with the first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
