THACKERVILLE, Okla. - The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's golf team finished out round three of the Lone Star Conference Championship on Tuesday morning, hosted on the Scissortail Course at the WinStar Golf Club.
The Javelinas completed the final 18 holes with a score of 302 (+14) to finish the competition in 12th place with an overall score of 924 (+60). The single-round performance is the team's second-best of the season, only beaten out by a +8 from the first round at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate on Sept. 11 - a round that set a new program record for lowest single-round team score.
The top four teams who will be competing in match play for the conference championship on Wednesday are Dallas Baptist (-9), West Texas A&M (-8), Oklahoma Christian (E), and Midwestern State (+8).
After a pair of +4 rounds yesterday,
Alessia Rojas followed up with another great round at +5, bagging two birdies on holes 3 and 15. With the score, Rojas finishes as one of the lowest-scoring Hogs at +13 overall to come in tied for 39th individually.
Joining Rojas at +13 overall is
Cesilee Mokry, also tying for 39th.
After shooting +10 in round one, Mokry responded with a stellar +1 in round two on Monday then backed it up on Tuesday with a +2 in round three. She holed three birdies on the day on holes 5, 12, and 13.
Coming in just two strokes behind Rojas and Mokry is
Kristin Grabow at +15, finishing tied for 47th. Grabow finished the day at +4 thanks to a birdie to open the back nine on hole 10.Â
Victoria Patterson turned in the second-lowest scorecard of the round for the Javelinas with a +4, finishing the competition tied for 54th at +19 overall. Patterson bagged her own back nine birdie on hole 13.
Rounding out the scores for the Javelinas is
Zoe Dean. Dean finished the day at +8 for an overall score of +30, finishing in 60th place. She sunk two birdies on the back nine on holes 10 and 13.
UP NEXT
The Javelinas compete in their final competition of the season at the PGA Works Collegiate Championship. The competition will take place on the legendary TPC Sawgrass course - the host of The Players Championship on the PGA Tour - in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL from May 6-8.
