Javelinas win three in a row to take series over Falcons

After dropping the series opener, the Hogs bounced back to sweep the next three games

ODESSA, Texas - The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team bounced back from a game one defeat to sweep the next three games, taking the series over UT Permian Basin by closing it out with a 5-2 win on Sunday afternoon.

The Javelinas (12-10,10-10 LSC) move back to .500 in conference play and win their second series in their last three. The Falcons (10-10, 10-10 LSC) drop to .500 both in LSC play and overall.

The Hogs got on the board early and did not look back, putting two runs on the board in the second inning. Michael Cervantes picked up the first RBI of the afternoon for TAMUK on a groundout to second base that allowed Kyle Perales to score, who singled as the second batter of the inning. Garrett Thompson followed up with a single of his own to bring home Vincent Sanchez.

Two more runs were tacked on in the fourth inning to bump the Javelina lead to 4-0. Thompson grabbed his second RBI of the day with another single to bring Perales across the plate for the second time today. Sanchez also found his way home a second time off the bat of a MJ Rodriguez double.

In the fifth, the Javelinas added one more point to the board thanks to a Jake Chapman single, scoring Dalton Kramer who reached base on a double to open up the inning. The Falcons attempted a late comeback, putting their first points on the board with two runs in the ninth, but it was too little too late as the Hogs secured the game and the series.

Colton Taylor (1-2) grabs his first win on the mound this season for TAMUK and Daniel Cardona is credited with the save.
