COLLEGE STATION, Texas - After week break, the Texas A&M-Kingsville track & field teams were back in action at the Texas A&M Invitational on Saturday.
The only non-Division I school in the field, the Hogs took on a host of high-level D-I competition in Texas A&M, TCU, UTSA, North Texas, UTRGV, and Arkansas-Little Rock.
The Javelinas brought home four medals on the day, two bronze and two silver, as well as a host of other top five and top ten finishes.
Ke'Andre Jones secured his first medal performance for the Blue & Gold as the two-sport basketball and track athlete recorded a height of 2.00 meters (6' 6.75") in the men's high jump for second-place. Jones also finished eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 13.35m (43' 9.75").
Paxton Hair recorded another great all-around performance at the meet, bringing home his second silver medal and third medal overall of the Outdoor season with a second-place finish in the men's discus throw with a toss of 49.38m (162' 0"). Hair also set a new personal best in the hammer throw, throwing a distance of 50.89m (166' 11") to finish in fourth-place.
Also setting a new personal best was
Markim Felix, throwing a new PB in the men's javelin throw of 72.44m (237' 8"), breaking his old best by .14 meters (5.5") and setting a NCAA D-II provisional mark.
For the women,
Katryna Hernandez finished in third-place in the hammer throw, recording a distance of 49.79m (163' 4"). She also finished sixth-place in the shot put at 14.36m (47' 1.5"). The shot put throw was also a NCAA D-II provisional mark.
Also notable for the Hogs,
Jace Williams finished in second-place in the B group for the men's pole vault with a height of 4.15m (13' 7.25").
Cynai Christopher,
Taylor Chaney, and
Gabriel Field also recorded D-II provisional marks in their events. Christopher recorded a time of 54.65 in the women's 400m, Chaney clocked in a 47.66 in the men's 400m, and Field finished with a 52.52 in the men's 400 hurdles.

The Javelinas make a quick turnaround as they compete in the Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas. The meet kicks off its first day of competition on Wednesday, March 27 with the heptathlon and decathlon and carries on all the way through Saturday.
