LAREDO, Texas - The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's golf team held strong in their position, shooting seven strokes better as a team than on day one to bring home seventh-place in the first event of the Spring 2024 season.
Shooting a 319 (+31) as a team in the final round of competition, the Hogs finished with an overall score of 645 (+69) to secure seventh-place. Taking the top three spots were Biola in third-place (+55), St. Mary's in second (+36), and West Texas A&M taking the crown with a total score of 595 (+19).
Individually for the Javelinas,
Cesilee Mokry was the lowest scorer once again, turning in a scorecard sitting at 77 (+5) to finish tied for 17th-place. Mokry started her day out strong with a birdie on hole one and only inching above par on five holes.
Victoria Patterson snagged a two stroke improvement over day one with a round two score of 79 (+7) to finish just behind Mokry tied for 22nd with an overall score of +16.
Alessia Rojas finished third on the team for the day, turning in a score of 81 (+9), a four stroke improvement over day one. She finished with a total score of +22, tied for 34th.
Rounding out the scoring Javelinas in round two was
Kristen Grabow with a round two score of 82 (+10) and +18 overall, finishing tied for 26th.
Competing as individuals was
Jamie Miller and
Zoe Dean, with total scores of
 +26 and +32 respectively. Miller finished in 44th and Dean finished 49th.
The Javelinas are back in action on Feb. 19 at the Corpus Christi Country Club for the Islander Classic, hosted by TAMU-Corpus Christi.
