CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's golf team competed against a host of Division I competition at the Corpus Christi Country Club over the three rounds of the Islander Classic, hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
The only Division II team in the field, the Hogs finished the event in eighth-place with a total score of 977 (+113), beating out DI schools Valparaiso and Prairie View A&M as well as McLennan CC. Hosts TAMUCC took the top step of the podium with a score of 912 (+42) with Lamar and TAMU-Commerce rounding out the top three at 928 (+84) and 948 (+64) respectively. The Javelinas also finished only four strokes behind DI Stephen F. Austin at 973 (+109) and ten strokes behind Omaha at 967 (+103).
Cesilee Mokry turned in the lowest scorecard for the Javelinas once again, securing a tie for 13th-place with a score of +20 over the three rounds, including getting par on every hole on the back nine except for one in the third round.
Victoria Patterson placed 29th for the event, carding a total score of +29. Behind Patterson,
Kristin Grabow and
Alessia Rojas both finished tied for 36th at +32, with both recording a birdie on the front nine in the final day of competition.
Rounding out the scoring Javelinas,
Jamie Miller came home with a total score of +46 over the three rounds to finish 58th.
Zoe Dean also competed as an individual at the event, finishing tied for 56th-place at +45.
The Javelinas are back in action on March 4-5 as they compete in the UTRGV Invitational in Edinburg, Texas at the McAllen Country Club.
