KINGSVILLE, Texas - The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team faced the West Texas A&M Buffaloes in the final game of the series at Nolan Ryan Field on Sunday afternoon. The Buffaloes got ahead early and stayed ahead as the Javelinas dropped the final game, 11-1, and the series to West Texas, 3-1.
The Javelinas (3-6, LSC 2-6) fall short in their second series after dropping the first series of the season to St. Edward's. The Buffaloes (7-1, LSC 7-1) win their second series in a row.
Things got going quickly as both teams scored in the first inning. The Buffaloes put four runs on the board on four hits to grab the lead. Putting the only run of the afternoon on the board for the Javelinas,
Jacob Rosales knocked through a single up the middle to score
Garrett Thompson, who reached base on a walk.
Though the Javelinas collected seven hits on the afternoon, nine runners were left on base as the Hogs could not get another run on the board. Meanwhile, the Buffaloes scored seven more runs over the next three innings to take a comfortable victory, 11-1.
Marco Martinez (0-1)
 is pegged with the loss for the Javelinas while Tai Phetluangsy (2-1) gains credit for the win for West Texas.

The Javelinas are back on the road as they make the trip to Portales, N.M. to take on the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds at Greyhound Field. The four-game series kicks off on Friday, Feb. 16 with game one scheduled for 3 p.m. CT.
