Denton - Offensive struggles doomed Texas A&M-Kingsville as it fell to Texas Woman's University at Kitty Magee Arena on Friday.
The Javelinas (11-11, 3-8 Lone Star Conference) had 26 attack errors and hit for just .128 percent for the match. Despite coming out on top of set one, the offense could not get rolling as the Pioneers (16-5, 9-2 LSC) took the match in four sets.
Ayanna Jackson again led the team in kills with 11,
Rylan Pollard added nine kills herself.
Meghan Stiefer finished the match with eight kills and a team-high 15 digs.
Nadia Pena led the Javelinas with 18 assists as well.
At the start of the match, the offense was able to get something going after Jackson nailed back-to-back kills.
Elisa Carli would follow that up with consecutive aces and the Javelinas would build up a small lead. The Pioneers brought it within one, but Harrington and
Madelyn Wallace would slam the door on Texas Woman's, taking set one for the Javelinas.
The offensive struggles began in the next two sets, with the Javelinas committing 13 hitting errors and scoring 22 kills. Texas Woman's would use this to their advantage, winning set two and set three to put itself on match points.
Set four would not be much better than the previous two sets, the Javelinas would commit a match-high nine hitting errors and struggle to get anything going on offense. The Pioneers would capitalize by scoring 13 kills and eventually taking the match.
Texas A&M-Kingsville has their final road game of the year at Wichita Falls Saturday at 2:00 p.m. against Midwestern State, the game will be streamed on Flosports.
