Lawton, OK. - Texas A&M-Kingsville got back in the win column Saturday by sweeping Cameron University at Aggie Gym.
The Javelinas (11-8, 3-5 Lone Star Conference) got a much needed win after falling in their last three conference road matches. They did so by way of domination, finishing off the Aggies (1-18, 1-7 LSC) in just three sets.
Ayanna Jackson completely dominated the game, going for 14 kills and seven total blocks.
Rylan Pollard would lead the Javelinas in assists with 13 while also being tied for the lead in digs with 10.
Isabel Rodriguez would also notch 10 digs for the match.
The match started about as good for the Javelinas as possible, jumping on the Aggies early in set one. Led by Jackson, the Javelinas would cruise to an early seven point lead. From there it was complete annihilation as the Aggies would only score two more points all set.
Set two was far more competitive than set one, with the Aggies jumping out to an early 4-0 lead. Cameron grew this lead to a six point lead midway through the set, but defensive plays from Jackson,
Kendall Harrington and
Natalee Rush would begin a massive run for the Javelinas that eventually tied the game up. Another great defensive play by Jackson and Pollard would put the second set on ice.
In the final set, Texas A&M-Kingsville would again fall behind early to the Aggies. This time however, it was the offense that sparked the comeback.
Meghan Stiefer's kill sparked a 12-3 run for the Javelinas, and they never looked back afterwards. Finishing the match in just three sets.
Texas A&M-Kingsville returns home after four road matches against UT-Tyler Friday at 6:00 p.m. CT at the Steinke Physical Education Center. The game will be streamed on Flosports.
