Box Score Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville could not get the offense it needed to keep up with UT-Tyler as it fell at home on Saturday.
The Javelinas (11-9, 3-6 Lone Star Conference) hit only .114% for the match and could not get the offense rolling in this one. Meanwhile the Patriots (11-6, 8-1 LSC) totaled 42 kills and finished with seven blocks to take the victory here in Kingsville.
Ayanna Jackson led the way with 10 kills and two total blocks, Junior
Madelyn Wallace finished with eight kills and both
Rylie Barnett and
Natalee Rush finished with five kills each.
Elisa Carli finished with 21 assists.
The offensive struggles showed in the first set of the match for the Javelinas, as they finished with a .031% for the set. Both teams would find themselves within a point of each other, but the Patriots took control of the set soon after with a 7-1 run. The Javelinas would try and crawl their way back into the set, but the hole was just too big as UT-Tyler took set one.
Set two would not fare much better for the Javelinas, as the Patriots continued to press their advantage. The Javelinas would eventually find themselves down eight points in set two, and a desperate comeback was not enough as they fell down two sets in the match.
Sensing the dire straits they were in, the Javelinas came out swinging in the third set, and after a bad set by the Patriots, the Javelinas were up five early in the set. The Patriots would rally back, but back-to-back kills by
Madelyn Wallace would give the Javelinas a late lead. The teams would then trade kills with each other, but eventually the Patriots would finish the Javelinas off.
Texas A&M-Kingsville hosts their Royal-Tee Rally tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. against Dallas Baptist, with the first 125 fans receiving a free T-shirt at the door. The match will be streamed on Flosports and fans can follow the game on Live Stats or at JavelinaVB on Twitter.
