CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Javelina women's golf team finished day one of the Islander Classic in thirteenth place in the team standings after 36 holes across Monday.
Freshman Victoria Patterson shot a team-best 162 across the two rounds, good enough to see her in the top half of the leaderboard sitting tied for 31st after the first day.
"We played a solid first 18," said head coach Stefanie Gray after a difficult and windy first day. "Alessia shot her low round of the year and the girls fought hard for those scores. They know they have the strength in them to turn in great scores in adverse conditions."
The aforementioned Alessia Rojas shot a team low, 78 in the first 18 of the day before a difficult second 18 saw card an 89 finishing the day tied for 54.
Cesilee Mokry sits just outside the top half of the leaderboard for TAMUK carding an 82 and 83 across the two rounds that sees her tied for 45th position going into day two.
Katelyn Habib and Kristin Grabow rounded out the team score for the day shooting 170 and 187 respectively.
Competing as an individual Briana Silerio posted a 175 across the opening 36 holes.
