DESTIN, Florida – Texas A&M-Kingsville's women's golf team has wrapped up round two of the Golfweek Division II Invitational at the Raven Golf Club in Destin, Florida on Monday.
Strong winds battered all the teams as they battled their way through the 18-holes, with gusts reaching up to 20 mph.
The Javelinas finished the round sitting in eighth-place with an overall score of +46 after shooting a +24 for the day as a team. The top two remained unchanged with Flagler holding a commanding lead at +10. Conference foe Texas A&M International holds possession of second-place at +22, twelve strokes behind the leaders. Rogers State climbed into the final spot of the top three with an overall score of +30.
The overall team score is 27 shots better than the score the team achieved last year at the event through 36 holes.
Cesilee Mokry led the way for the Javs once more through round two. Two birdies on the back nine left Mokry with a score of +4 for the round, bringing her overall score to +6. Mokry heads into the final round tomorrow tied for eighth individually.
Kristin Grabow saw a two-stroke improvement over her first round after a birdie on both the front and back nine for a round score of +6. Grabow sits at +14 overall, tied for 32
nd.
Zoe Dean and
Alessia Rojas both improved on their first rounds as well with both shooting +7 for the round. Three birdies on the day helped Rojas to a three-stroke improvement over round one while Dean shot two strokes better than her first round. Dean and Rojas sit tied for 36
th and tied for 40
th respectively heading into the final day.
Victoria Patterson rounded out the day for the Javelinas at +12 for an overall score of +15. She currently sits tied for 34
th-place.
The Javelinas will look to make a statement in the final round tomorrow morning with the first tees for the group starting at 8:05 a.m.
