WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's golf team teed off their final competition of the 2023 Fall season on Monday in rounds one and two of the Midwestern Invitational at Wichita Falls Country Club, hosted by Midwestern State.
The team shot 653 (+77) over the first two rounds, with 323 (+35) in round one and 330 (+42) in round two. The team currently sits in 11
th-place overall going into the final round. St. Mary's holds first-place at +17 overall. Dallas Baptist and West Texas A&M round out the podium in second and third with +19 and +31 overall respectively.
Kristin Grabow was the lowest scoring Javelina over the two rounds for the day. In round one, two birdies on the front nine led Grabow to a team low +3 for the round. She would follow round one up with a +10 in round two after snagging a birdie on hole 11 for an overall score of +13. Grabow currently sits tied for 27
th individually heading into the final day.
Victoria Patterson and
Cesilee Mokry finished a few strokes behind Grabow at +19 and +20 overall respectively. Patterson sunk three birdies on the day, shooting +11 and +8 in rounds one and two to take her spot tied for 42
nd. Mokry recorded +10 in both rounds, including a chip-in eagle on hole three in the first round to finish the day tied for 46
th.
Jamie Miller and
Alessia Rojas rounded out the scorecards for the Javelinas, recording scores of +25 and +28 overall on the day. Miller shot +11 in round one and +14 in round two with a birdie apiece to finish her day tied for 52
nd-place. Rojas sits tied for 58
th-place after recording +14 in both rounds.
The third and final round of the Midwestern Invitational tees off early tomorrow with the squad hitting the course at 8:30 a.m.
