KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team hosted UT-Tyler Saturday where they took down the Patriots in a three-set sweep (25-13, 25-23, 25-22).
The Javelinas (12-6, 4-2 LSC) came into Saturday looking to continue their home dominance after a four set 3-1 victory over the Dallas Baptist Patriots. The UT-Tyler Patriots (10-9, 4-4 LSC)

Ayanna Jackson with another dominant performance hitting a .562 with 10 kills on the afternoon. Senior outside hitter
Jackie Alanis also with a dominant performance of her own with 10 kills, a .375 hitting percentage and four service aces to her line.
Set one saw the Javelinas with an early 8-5 lead compliments of two
Samantha Estrada service aces while on a 4-0 run. The Patriots however battled back tying the match at eight apiece before yet another 5-0 Javelina run widened the gap making it a 13-8 score. From that point the Javelinas did not look back only allowing five more points in the set ending set one 25-13.
Set two began with each team going point for point with the Patriots leading 8-7 before the Javelinas went on a 5-0 run featuring two
Jeri Ficklen blocks. The Patriots went on a 5-0 run of their own however tying the game at 14 apiece. From that point on it being a close set as there were 12 total tie scores and seven total lead changes ultimately leading to a Javelina set two win 25-23.
The third set began as a tight one looking to be yet another close competitive set until the Patriots started widening the gap seemingly pulling away. The Patriots were up 17-15 until the Javelinas went on a 7-0 run making it a 22-17 set. The javelinas taking advantage of the momentum go on to win the set 25-22 completing the sweep.
The Javelinas will be back on the road next time out as they take on Lubbock Christian Friday October 20
th at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock, Texas.
