KINGSVILLE, Texas – Javelina men's basketball returns to the Steinke Physical Education Center for their first home games of 2023 as they take on University of Arkansas Fort Smith at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5 and Oklahoma Christian at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7.
Both games will have free entry for the public.
The Javelinas (9-5, 3-3 LSC) enter the two-game stretch on a four-game win streak including two wins over Lone Star Conference opponents St. Mary's and St. Edward's last week.
The 67-61 win over the Rattlers marked TAMUK's eighth straight win over the team from San Antonio, while the 80-76 victory over St. Ed's served the Hilltoppers their first conference loss of the season.
Senior forward Will Chayer, was dominant in the New Year's win over St. Ed's posting a season high 19-points going an efficient 8-10 from the field while adding three rebounds and an assist.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
The Lions (7-6, 3-4 LSC) come to Kingsville coming off a 83-75 overtime victory over UT Tyler last Sunday.
UAFS is led by redshirt freshman Payton Brown, who leads the conference in points per game this season with an average of 20.8 which also places him 24th nationally.
The guard also leads the conference in field goal attempts on the season. He averages 16.5 field goal attempts per game while having the third most three-point attempts in all of Division II this season with 115.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Oklahoma Christian (6-7, 2-5 LSC), looks to continue its winning ways following wins over Dallas Baptist and UT Tyler.
The Eagles will look to their do it all forward Antonio Gordon who posted a career-high 28-point performance in their last game against DBU.
The junior from Lawton, Okla. has gotten it done on both ends of the floor this season with the second most blocks in the conference with 25 so far, the fourth most rebounds, and 12th most points in the conference.
OC has lost the last two meetings between the Eagles and Javelinas.
