CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Texas A&M-Kingsville beach volleyball team has stretched their win streak to seven-in-a-row and the most recent edition to the Javelinas' run was a 5-0 victory over the Catawba College Lady Indians, which came on Saturday on day two of the C of C Beach Blast at the Creekside Tennis and Swim Complex in Charleston, S.C.
TAMUK's win streak has improved their record to 11-6, while Catawba is 2-9.
The Javelinas fourth straight sweep started with seniors Meghan Merlino (Sacramento, Calif.) and Roxanne Morris (Goliad, Texas) winning the fourth flight, 21-12, 21-7. The Javelina lead reached 2-0 when senior Christina Gragasin (Celina, Texas) and sophomore Grace Gettys (New Braunfels, Texas) combined to secure the fifth flight, 21-11, 21-11. The No. 6 match also belonged to the Blue and Gold by a score of 21-14, 21-16, thanks to senior Kapri Pelle (Auburn, Calif.) and sophomore Jackie Alanis (McAllen, Texas).
The clinching point was turned in by sophomore Rylie Anderson (Justin, Texas) and freshman Madelyn Wallace (La Vernia, Texas) at No. 3, 21-17, 21-12. Seniors Tenley Housler (Bulverde, Texas) and Macie Satterwhite (Callisburg, Texas) made it 4-0 Javelinas with a 21-10, 21-19 triumph in the No. 1 flight and the victory was finished off by a 21-13, 21-10 win in the second match by junior Lexi Ahrens (Virginia, Minn.) and sophomore Adrienne van Brunt (Corpus Christi, Texas).
