Three years in a row both volleyball teams earn AVCA Team Academic Award

Kingsville - For the third year in a row, both of the Texas A&M University Kingsville women's Indoor Volleyball and Beach Volleyball teams earned the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award.

The qualifications in making the list is by maintaining a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale). "It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."

The award has been active in Division II Beach Volleyball since the 2016-17 academic year, and the Javelinas were one of three programs to earn the award in its first year. The program has earned the award six times total since the 2016-17 year.

The indoor volleyball team recorded a 3.53 cumulative GPA for the 2025-26 academic year, while the beach volleyball program posted a 3.60 cumulative GPA. This is the second consecutive year that both the indoor and beach volleyball programs were named to the honor.

Javelina volleyball will open the 2026 season in Arkansas at the Southern Arkansas Fall Invitational, where it will face Arkansas-Monticello. Fans can stay up to date on Javelina volleyball news and updates by following JavelinaVB or Javelinabeach on Instagram and X
